This book is a compendium of the lectures delivered at the first conference ever held to bring together scientists working on what are now called embryonic stem cells (or ES cells). The conference took place at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 1982. Also included are pictures of many of the scientists involved in the original establishment of stem cell research.
